Guest blog - quintessential styling
Ever wondered how our most treasured stores looks so amazing? A destination store that looks as stylish as this Balmain beauty doesn't just happen by accident. Thanks to the lovely Leanne Carter-Taylor, from one of our favourite interior stores quintessential duckeggBLUE, for this wonderful guest blog and a sneak peek of their latest in-store styling session!
DAY 1: Before - let the styling begin...
At quintessential duckeggBLUE , the ‘home of found industrial & antique objects’, styling and visual merchandising of the store is a ‘must’! Our clients expect only the most covetable finds, expertly placed and styled to perfection, and that is what we aim to deliver every single day of the year. We ‘covet’ creativity and innovation just as much as Leanne ‘covets’ individual & original industrial & antique furniture!
We recently invited our favourite freelance stylist, John, to cast his amazing ‘styling’ wand over the store in a 2 day styling project, and wanted to share some of our favourite ‘before & after’ shots with eat read love readers…….we hope you enjoy! Over 2 days we moved, changed, dressed and hung everything in the store, giving all of our ‘finds’ a new home and a new purpose.

What we love about working with John is his “anything’s possible” attitude (an attitude that Leanne has every time she is overseas hunting down all our elusive finds!), and his calm, collected nature in a chaotic environment - a store packed floor to ceiling with the ‘offbeat & original’ industrial lighting, storage cabinets of all shapes and sizes and original Tolix chairs, to the ‘well worn’ and traditional antique farmhouse tables and ever so covetable, club sofa chairs (Leanne’s absolute favourite ‘must’ have item). We meticulously hung and placed 17 original, industrial metal chairs, ending up with a fabulous feature ‘chair wall’ as you enter the store…..a new way to view chairs we though. A little different to the traditional placement of chairs around a dining table.
Leanne Carter-Taylor searches far and wide to source only the most ‘quintessential’, original and covetable ‘industrial & antique’ finds, bringing a little slice of European history to Sydney. Stylists and customers alike are always complementing us on the ‘finished’ nature and superb styling of the store. But it doesn’t come lightly! After two busy, but exciting days, the store was looking amazing with new windows and a fresh new look… phew!!!! A few more weeks and the process will start again.
DAY 2: After - the end result. Everything beautifully styled and in place...
A huge thanks to Leanne and the team for featuring as this month's eat read love guest bloggers! The store looks beautiful doesn't it? I adore everything, the vintage book stacks, Tolix chair wall feature, industrial lights and that bookshelf wallpaper! Oh and a little birdy told me that you might spot some quintessential style in the new Baz Luhrman film 'The Great Gatsby'.
