ROAR is the creation of Michelle Kalpou and local fashion stylist Lee Baker-Louis. Michelle and Lee have hand picked timeless pieces from Australian designers like Bassike and Nick Campbell Eyeware as well as international brands like Scotch & Soda (one very cool Amsterdam couture house), delicious Aesop skin care and KOBO soy candles. You can pick up some really cool home grown luxuries too like the gorgeous FKF - French Kiss Fragrances from Bowral, and the very funky Aussie made Page Thirty Three wooden milk crates - just perfect for seating, shelving, and storage. Downstairs houses some top fashion brands, feathered accessories, candles and little luxuries for the home, while upstairs you can find an array of natural floor rugs, cushions and more beautiful clothes for men and woman. For those wanting a platinum service, ROAR even offers a home interior and fashion styling service.
Collaborating with one of eat read love's favourite interior designers Rebecca Riles from iconic style haven Roots and Wings Design in Berry to create a simply beautiful space. Reflecting her signature style Bec has used luxury fittings, natural timbers, clean white lines and soft lighting to help create a fashion and interiors sanctuary with an edge. The sleek cabinetry and glass balcony contrasts perfectly with the white vaulted timber-lined ceiling, reflecting the building's heritage and seaside location. You must remember to look up when you walk into the store at the huge ROARING lion painted on the ceiling.
Right next door to ROAR you can enjoy a coffee at Grind always overflowing with loyal coffee enthusiasts, with Char Bella home wares and South Cronulla beach just a stone's throw away. Judging by the buzz in the store on opening weekend I have no doubt this will fast become a destination in its own right. This little corner of style on Surf Rd is the perfect place to eat, read and love.
