Winter is here, and what better time to escape to the country.

Earlier this week I photographed these beautiful bare naked trees at the grand entrance to the historic All Saints Estate in Wahgunyah, near Rutherglen in Victoria. Wandering through the grounds in the late afternoon, happy to be away from the city in the fresh air, and stumbling upon rustic old doors, vintage chandelier's, and beautiful old curved trees along the way.

Established in 1864, All Saints Estate is one of Australia's original wineries steeped in tradition and history. The original old Chinese Dormitory staff quarters remains for all to see and the Great Hall is lined with 100yr old Oak casks filled with rare Tokay's and Muscats.  No time for wine and cheese tasting on this trip (sigh) but I will most definitely return to enjoy more of the fabulous food and wine that All Saints and the many surrounding vineyards have to offer.

EAT: Tuileries restaurant in the quaint, historic town of Rutherglen is my pick. The wine buffet allows you to try a selection of local wines from Rutherglen's famous winemakers and the food is divine. After many visits here, I now know that a trip to Rutherglen is not complete without a Parker's Pie and lemon tart. All Saints Estate also has a lovely restaurant on site and a huge function room, a stunning wedding venue. The former bottling hall and cellar now houses the Indigo Cheese Co. a place you can dine among the historic vineyards and take in the beautiful scenery.

STAY: Tuileries also has lovely accommodation on site so you can easily stumble back to your luxury villa after your meal. Choose from a Romance, Moroccan or Contemporary style villa, each individually designed and overlooking the grape vines. Its a great central location to base yourself to visit the many surrounding wineries including Morris Wines, Campbells, Cofields, Chambers, St Leonards & Stanton and Killeen.

LOVE: A visit to this area wouldn't be complete without a wander through the beautiful old town of Rutherglen. Gorgeous original old building fronts and lovely old bookshops, cafes and vintage stores to peruse.
