Sophisticated Mothers Day Dining in Sydney at Steerson's Bridge Street
You know I LOVE Sydney dining, and getting to taste the menu at some of Sydney's lovely restaurants is the best part of my life as an 'eat read lover'! On Friday I was invited to preview the upcoming Mothers Day Lunch Menu at Steersons - most definitely somewhere special for your Mothers Day. Not only was the food sensational, but the location is fabulous, in the heart of Bridge St Sydney. I have always loved this iconic original Sydney building and wandered past many, many times. As a history lover, I was delighted with the inside of the restaurant too - the environment is one of elegant sophistication and opulence dating back to 1901.

Steersons definitely makes for a unique Sydney dining experience, housed in one of Sydney's iconic buildings - the Burns Philp building at 7 Bridge Street is heritage listed and built at the turn of the century. It is a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque styles, predominantly of sandstone like the other Bridge St properties of that time. Celebrated architect Arthur Anderson was responsible for most of Sydney’s original Harbourside warehouses, and the Burns Philp Building is one of only a few remaining properties still standing which makes it even more special. The stunning interior features elaborate cedar-work, vaulted ceilings and brass chandeliers. The view from the mezzanine is special (can also be booked out for groups and private functions), taking you back in time to a place of decadence and sophistication. (Burns Philp has its roots in the production and distribution of delicious ingredients, once being a major player in Australian food manufacturing)
Our preview of the Mothers Day Menu started with a taste of the delicious entrees - Honey Glazed Confit of Pork Belly with Red Wine Vinegar, Shallot's and Lemon, a taste of the Duck Liver Pate with Orange, Plum Compote and Crunchy Toast and the Spicy Fried Calamari and Zucchini Fritters with Lemon Aioli. For main I HAD to have the signature Steersons Steak - what can I say I am a steak girl! Steersons is of course well known for its delicious steak, and serves one of the largest and best quality ranges of beef on offer in Sydney. Southern Grain Fed Angus, Hereford & Shorthorn breeds from Wagga Wagga, graded in the top 1% of Australian Beef. Dry aged beef sourced from Havericks results in steaks that are superior in tenderness with a buttery taste and nutty aroma. Dessert was a standout - the Passionfruit Semifreddo with Coconut Meringue and Pomegranate was sensational the White and Dark Choc Mousse with Cream Cheese Ice-cream, Honeycomb and Lavender looked as pretty as it tasted.
So if you are up for something a little special and sophisticated this Mothers Day, then Steersons Bridge Street is taking Mothers Day bookings now for lunch. Steersons Lime Street at King Street Wharf will also be open on Mother's Day serving the same special lunch menu.
