Juniper Hearth

You know I love talking about the South Coast every chance I get and always looking to uncover hidden gems for my fellow eat, read, lovers. In a constant state of wanderlust whenever I travel down to this little country-coastal haven, I also love the opportunity to work with creative people who have been able to turn their true passion into a way of life. After extensive travel to India and Nepal and a true love for textiles and knitting, this is where the story of Noreen Giles, and the creation of Juniper Hearth begins.

Pioneering the concept of a ‘lifestyle’ store, Juniper Hearth is a gorgeous boutique, established in 2002 in the picturesque village of Berry on the NSW South Coast, one of my favourite places to eat read love south of Sydney. Tucked away in a beautiful 1920s gallery-style store on Alexandra Street, it is one of Berry’s best kept shopping secrets. In addition to the store, last year Juniper Hearth also launched its e-Emporium, bringing a finely edited collection of its ‘signature’ wares for delivery to your door.

Juniper Hearth is for lovers of the eclectic, handcrafted and exotic. If there is a touch of nomad in you, and you love handmade luxury then a visit to Juniper Hearth will definitely lift the spirit and sooth the soul. This Winter fine hand printed scarves, embroidered kaftans and pure wool throws from India rub shoulders with colourful decorative pieces for the home from Nepal. Unique pieces to treasure which also make perfect gifts for loved ones.

All of the wool scarves and throws that Noreen has sourced are made from 100% fine wool, so soft to handle, lightweight and warm and perfect for cold winter days and crisp mornings. Depending on your mood you can choose between rich warm reds and oranges, or softer sophisticated blues and greens, shop the full collection here. Juniper Hearth also carries classic cashmere sweaters in cream, camel, grey and black and the most divine silk and cashmere hand printed scarves from India. The colours are breathtaking.

I am not sure if it is the the bakeries, the dappled light, the fresh air or the Artisan finds that keep me coming back to Berry, maybe it is all of them combined. Next time you are down South, be sure to stop in to Juniper Hearth or if you can't wait, you can head over to the e-emporium for a little armchair escapism and start your shopping now.
