Watson's Bay Boutique Hotel

After a multi-million dollar refurb, and home to one of Sydney's best harbour views, the iconic Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel has a fresh new look and is all set to entertain you for your next glamorous party, wedding or a relaxing afternoon basking in the sun.

My husband and I arrived at Watson's Bay Boutique Hotel on a Friday in late September, one of those balmy Spring afternoons in Sydney where people are slowly easing into the weekend after a hectic work week. I have fond memories of the Watson's Bay Hotel, an old favourite for long Sunday lunches and afternoon drinks in my Uni days and of course the best fish and chips in town. I hadn't been back for a while, but it was quite lovely to return for the entire weekend. There is still such a great friendly and relaxed vibe here, and while the view has always been world class, the hotel is now looking pretty gorgeous after a face lift and stylish new fit out. Treated to a lovely glass of bubbles on arrival, we instantly relaxed into the weekend, spoilt by the lovely Matt Jones, and indulged in some lovely fresh prawns and superb steak and wines. The Sunset Room has such a great family friendly atmosphere on a Friday night we could have easily brought the kids, with a chilled out mix of weekenders and locals enjoying the view and the food.

The Sunset Room, now the perfect place for a wedding or special event, has had a beautiful makeover by Architect Jeremy Bull with styling by Caroline Choker (who won me over with The Grounds of Alexandria). The decor is simple and elegant with white panelled walls, a relaxed French country feel with long French timber tables, rustic white chairs, loads of fresh flowers, antique French hemp bags and vintage squash rackets. My favourite corner of the room is just as you walk in, two cosy vintage chairs facing the fireplace, with scattered newspapers and a cup of coffee this is undoubtably the best place to enjoy a post wedding recovery breakfast. Chef Pete Evans now caters for the weddings in the Sunset Room too. Check out some pics on the blog of the Sunset Room all set up for a wedding - it looks beautiful!

The accommodation rooms range from lovely large Harbour View Apartments, with simple yet stylish decor and views over the beach club and harbour. For something extra special I  suggest you try one of the Harbour View Grand Loft or King Suites with a balcony to make the most of the amazing location and views.  The Beach Club, which is almost finished its final makeover, has fun, distinctive cheeky seaside decor perfect for leisurely long afternoons with friends watching the sunset over the best harbour in the world. Matt gave us a sneak peak of brand new Top Deck bar and function space which would make an ideal setting for a special event, BBQ function for both small and large groups. Sitting directly above the iconic Doyle's restaurant on the beachfront, the Top Deck can be zoned off to suit your group size and would also be divine for pre-wedding cocktails at sunset.

The Watson's Bay Boutique Hotel would be a wonderful place to spend a weekend with friends and loved ones for a wedding or special celebration, a girls weekend away or cosy couple retreat. An easy ferry ride or drive from the city too and free parking.
