Find your Roots & Wings

The new spring range via Roots & Wings Design
Spring is finally here and for the month of September eat read love is featuring some fabulous designs and destinations on the NSW South Coast. First stop is the gorgeous and inspiring Roots & Wings design, in the much loved and luxe little town of Berry.

Rebecca Riles, founder and creative director behind the uber stylish Roots & Wings design still smirks when saying the store name. After studying interior design and floristry and travelling and working abroad, Rebecca returned home to share her beautiful eye for design and love for creativity with her local area. With such a strong concept behind her designs Rebecca has created a beautiful store perfectly tailored to the amazing relaxed & stylish South Coast lifestyle.

"Roots & Wings was born from the dream to share products and designers found whilst spreading my wings, bringing me back home to my roots"

A reflection of Rebecca's own style and touch of nostalgia, the store showcases a carefully selected range of fabulous designer home wares, fashion, accessories and seasonal delights, featuring top Australian designer fashion labels like Bassike, Malene Birger, Camilla & Marc, Kirrily Johnston, Aesop, Rachael Ruddick & Mezi just to name a few. All of these beautiful brands are cleverly styled in the store (as you can see in the beautiful images above), so all of the hard work has been done for you. And if you cant make it to the shop, the online store is the next best thing!

For me Berry is the midpoint on our regular South Coast drives, and Roots & Wings is now an essential stop en-route to Mollymook. The iconic ivy surrounded front door, and whimsical window displays are hard to miss, and the shop is located right next door to the award winning Asian and ‘green food’ restaurant the Hungry Duck.
It is funny…when I walked into the store a few weeks ago, I was explaining that after a hectic working week in Sydney, there is nothing I love more than driving South. Once I hit those hills above Gerringong my shoulders relax and I enter 'the zone' where my mind wanders and the deadlines fade. After talking to Rebecca, I realise that we have this feeling in common, and the same reason why we both have a passion for seducing everyone we know to head to the South Coast.

eat: if your lucky enough to be heading to the South Coast, make sure you checkout the locals favourites - the Blue Swimmer at Gerroa for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and the rustic Woodfired Sourdough Bakery is the perfect coffee stop. I have been told that you should not miss the Hungry Duck (just next door to R&W) serving great local produce (lots of which is organically grown in the restaurant's own garden), and amazing Asian fusion dishes. David Campbell has taken the skills he acquired while working at Wockpool, Tetsuyas (London) and Billy Kwong and opened his own modern Asian restaurant in the heart of Berry. I cant wait to try this!
stay: for lovely accommodation in the area, Woodbyne Boutique Hotel is very much in keeping with the quaint & quiet Berry style or try Sojourn deluxe cabins for a more contemporary style. Bella Chara in nearby Gerringong is also a favourite for some weekend pampering.

love: meeting creative and inspiring people who follow their dreams and talent and turn it into something beautiful for all of us to share. I am very excited to have Rebecca join us from time to time as a guest blogger on eat read love, to share some of the South Coast's best kept secrets and design tips.
