Looking for something nice to do this weekend? I often refer to the 'Devonshire Street Trifecta' when talking to friends about one of my favourite little places to eat, read + love. The Book Kitchen, ici et la and La Maison - three beautiful stores all in one little village corner, at the leafy end of Devonshire Street Surry Hills.
Looking for something nice to do this weekend? I often refer to the 'Devonshire Street Trifecta' when talking to friends about one of my favourite little places to eat, read + love. The Book Kitchen, ici et la and La Maison - three beautiful stores all in one little village corner, at the leafy end of Devonshire Street Surry Hills.
My love of book cafes inspired me to start the 'eat read love' blog journey. I was so happy when I stumbled across the The Book Kitchen a little while ago, a place where you can indulge in books AND food - two of my great loves. I had a little window of 'free time' on Saturday, so I swapped the double pram for my camera, and stopped by for a coffee. The cafe was buzzing, the coffee was great, the sun was shining, and the streets were lined with beautiful green trees and lots of happy Saturday morning folk.
EAT & READ: while the chef prepares your delicious breakfast served with Single Origin local coffee, you can sit and read, or browse through the walls of 'gastronomic literature', a mix of new and antique books to browse or buy. My idea of R&R. The Book Kitchen is open daily for Breakfast and Lunch 8-3pm, and now open for Dinner on Friday & Saturday nights.
LOVE: walk out of The Book Kitchen, take a quick left and you will stumble across a Sydney style icon ici et la (means 'here and there' in French). Overflowing with fabulous rustic French furniture, antique books, french garden chairs, vintage leather seats, beautifully bright 'basque' signature striped fabric, zinc letters, industrial lighting and many more objects de charme to decorate your home or garden. I love the vibrant striped fabric and deck chairs out front.
Of course I cannot write a post on the 'Devonshire Street Trifecta' without mention of the gorgeous French provincial icon store - La Maison. If you love French furniture, this is the place to come. My heart races every time I walk in the door!
