After a long time waiting I finally made it to Laduree, the Parisian macaron parlour and icon. Well so I thought. I was a little disappointed when I visited the store on the flagship store on the Avenue des Champs Elysees to find it was closed for renovations!! I couldn't believe that after all this time waiting I would miss it. But alas on our way to Musee d'Orsay my husband suggested we take a different road and we quite literally stumbled upon the beautiful and elegant Laduree in Saint-Germain de pres. Famous for it's iconic black front door and opening by Madeleine Castaing in 1947, this gorgeous little boutique macaron parlour and tea salon sits so quaintly on the corner on rue Jacob and rue Bonaparte, the original meeting place for many celebrities and artists like Soutine, Chagall and Italian painter & sculptor Modigliani. What a treat to sit and enjoy the most wonderful hot chocolate, raspberry and lemon tart and mini macarons in such a charming and historic setting. Just bliss!
