ARTIST IN PROFILE // James Gordon on Shopify
Jimmie is one of a kind - extremely talented, hilariously funny and endearing. He loves a lobster sandwich and a good horror novel too. In the early days Jimmie worked as a visual merchandiser at Georges in Sydney going on to start his own very successful Sydney event company as creative director of the James Gordon Workshop designing and styling some of Sydney's finest weddings, he even designed the iconic Collette Dinnigan logo too! Jimmie is also a talented paper artist and illustrator and creates the most elaborate and intricate designs out of paper. Of course I had to book in to one of Jimmie's Paper courses - learning to create a paper prawn after too many champagnes was also another memorable weekend for me in Byron Bay (Paper Runway SPLASH workshop in Byron Bay)
So the exciting news I wanted to share today is that following the launch of the new collection at the Bangalow Museum last weekend, Jimmie has just launched his online store on shopify - which means that we can now all access his beautiful creations online. I hope you enjoy this little glimpse of his work and I definitely encourage you to take a look at Shopify and see for yourself. Its really really beautiful.
Jimmie has recently moved to Leura in the Blue Mountains for a tree change, and it seems that both he and his best friend Bob the dog are enjoying the country life very much. I loved reading this recent interview with Jimmie on the Design Files, with some gorgeous photos taken by my friend (and fellow Cronulla local Rachel Kara). I caught up with James a little while back to ask him about his favourite eat, read, loves. Of course its all in CAPS - we wouldn't expect anything else from Jimmie X X X
