The Flinders Hotel, Mornington Peninsula

A luxury finale to our Victorian road trip at The Flinders Hotel, Mornington Peninsula.
The Flinders Hotel is set in the heart of the super stylish seaside town of Flinders - a foodies haven with two fabulous restaurants and luxury accommodation on site. Visiting the Flinders Hotel was a special visit for me personally. Leading Nutritionist and Director of the Flinders Hotel, Karen Inge is long time nutrition colleague, friend and mentor of mine, and has been sharing the Flinders Hotel journey with me over the past few years. A fellow foodie at heart, I knew that whatever project Karen put her name to would be brilliant. So it was really wonderful to finally get the chance to visit and experience this lovely hotel with my own family.

The Flinders Hotel is a special place, steeped in history and local charm, but with all the luxury finishes. Established in 1889, the Flinders Hotel has endured devastating fires, collapsed beach bars and more than a few vibrant locals. With a spirit of survival and many stories to tell, the Flinders Hotel remains a bustling meeting place for locals and visitors alike. The Deck Bar & Bistro, with both indoor and outdoor dining areas, is the perfect meeting place for family and friends. With a toasty open fire crackling inside, this is the place to enjoy pub food at its best and kids are welcome! For the food lovers, the one hatted Terminus in the original part of the hotel is the hot spot on the Peninsula to indulge your culinary senses with a sophisticated French and Mediterranean inspired menu and luxury furnishings.

Part of the iconic Flinders Hotel culinary destination, Quarters is designed to meet the needs of today's discerning traveller. "Blending beautifully in to the coastal landscape, this recently constructed architecturally designed hotel is anchored in the fabric of Flinders and inspired by the natural surrounds". The Quarters offers 40 beautifully appointed contemporary rooms, accommodating up to 80 people with event space on site too for private functions and weddings.

And of course it is clear to me now why everyone calls the Mornington Peninsula 'foodies heaven'. Flinders is a quiet peaceful coastal village set amongst wide open spaces, rolling green hills and surrounded by some of the best wineries and local fresh produce in Australia. With both both surf beaches and bays handy on all sides, Flinders is at the heart of Victoria’s most rugged and beautiful coast. It is a visually stunning town too. And while every home could easily feature in an episode of Grand Designs, and every shop is beautifully curated, Flinders still retains a relaxed coastal village vibe.

I would highly recommend The Flinders Hotel as a weekend retreat for those close by in Melbourne, and as a perfect base to explore the beautiful Mornington Peninsula for those travelling from afar. I would like to thank Karen Inge for the opportunity to stay and experience The Flinders Hotel with my family.
