SAINT CLOCHE PRESENTS
‘HOME: SEEING, SENSATION...THINKING’
This winter, Saint Cloche gallery invites you HOME.
Respected visual artist Monique Lovering and popular ceramicist Tara Burke come together to present an earthy, tactile and comforting show exploring the notions of home. (These amazing artists will also be providing the beautiful backdrop to my next special Kinfolk Dinner, with bespoke ceramics made just for us!)

MONIQUE has at varying times called England, Australia, New Zealand and Italy her home. Her new body of work is about her obsession with 'Home' - the symbolism and meaning of this word we so freely use to describe a 'place'. It was her time in Italy however, which helped Monique to evolve her sense of home, her sense of self and her true sense
of place:
“It felt primal, earthy and unapologetic at times intoxicating. It is this rawness that I crave to unfold and express in the work. It felt like 'Home', less to do with a piece of soil and more to do with a sense of meeting my soul”

TARA’s ceramic work for HOME is loosely based around the Australian environment, as it is indeed Australia that Tara calls home. Inspiration is drawn particularly from the Coastal Walk, which spans from Otford to Bundeena via the Royal National Park: “I did this 29km walk upon relocating to Sydney from Melbourne and was inspired by the diverse environments ; the rugged, rocky and bushy terrain, to impossibly smooth, white, chalk-like sandstone cliffs, and deserted sandy beaches. This diversity is reflected in my work, particularly through textures”. All clays used are Australian, rendering Tara’s work not just figuratively about the Australian environment, but is literally made from Australian earth. All flora used in the show will be native Australian.

HOME opens Saturday 13th June at Saint Cloche Gallery Paddington, and runs daily to Saturday 27th June,10am – 4pm. Please note that HOME will also be providing the backdrop for our much sought-after Kinfolk Workshop & Dinner
on Sunday 14th June (sold out).
