Outdoor Entertaining for the Festive Season

As the weather warms up and the working year comes to an end, it is always so nice to spend time outside, as warm Summer days flow effortlessly into relaxing balmy nights. Styling up your backyard, verandah or deck for a beautiful festive dinner is a great idea if you want to create your very own retreat at home. 

Christmas is a time to wind down, relax and unwind, catch up with family and old friends over a quiet drink on the porch, enjoy a BBQ outside and let the kids run around and play. If you want to go to a little more effort you could style up the backyard or deck to create a gorgeous long table dinner table for Christmas day or New Years Eve. If you are working to a small budget, then you can be very creative with the things that you already have around the home - old doors resting on bricks make great  long tables, and old wooden crates make fabulous seats and outdoor tables when stacked up. You can use natural greenery and foliage form the garden to decorate the table. We had so much fun at a friend's Patonga beach cottage recently creating a festive outdoor table setting using teak timber table and chairs, wooden chopping blocks, natural foliage and candles.
